Cystic acne home remedy is a boon to all those who are in a dire need to zap those unsightly zits. Cystic acne is a more serious version of the common acne or pimples and is visible as lumps or fluid-filled boils on the skin surface. It can be quite painful and generally causes scarring on the skin. Thus, this type of acne leaves an indelible mark on the faces of many teens- a mark that truly demoralizes them leaving them society-shy. However, such teens can take heart since Mother Nature provides some effective remedies to all the sufferers.

Essentially, the remedies are classified as topical and internal. Topical treatments use ingredients such as honey, turmeric, baking soda, aloe-vera, coconut oil and essential oils. Internal treatments include the use of zinc and pantothenic acid supplements.

Honey as such or mixed with lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, salt and even aspirin when applied on the face for 10-15 minutes not only reduces the lump size but also takes care of the scars. Turmeric as an anti-inflammatory agent effectively counters the inflamed acne. Baking soda is another topical ingredient that cures cystic acne by absorbing excess sebum oil that can wreck havoc on a smooth skin. Coconut oil mixed with aloe-vera gel and essential oils such as jojoba, lavender, tea-tree and rosemary oils make for an excellent cystic acne home remedy that when applied on the blemishes reduce the swelling, redness and even the scars making your skin glow more.

As far as the internal remedies are concerned, zinc and pantothenic acid are used primarily because it is thought that the deficiency of these nutrients causes cystic acne. In fact effects of these supplements have been observed just after a week of treatment that even work wonders on the deep and painful acne. Usually 15-30mg / day zinc with copper and 10g / day of pantothenic acid are prescribed as supplements. Smaller doses are not preferred as they take longer time for healing.

In addition to these cystic acne home remedy, it is necessary to ensure that you consume a balanced diet instead of gorging on greasy foods that aggravate this condition. Try as far as possible to de-stress yourself as stress is another major causative factor of cystic acne.
